Course overview
Selecting HR technology is one of the few decisions where the buyer is systematically outmatched. The vendor has done this a thousand times; you will do it once or twice in a career. They know exactly which features demonstrate well and which limitations do not appear until month nine of implementation. And the demonstration will be run by someone very good at demonstrations, using data that has been prepared to make the product look effortless.
This course is written to correct that asymmetry. It covers the platform landscape and what each category is actually for, requirements definition that reflects your own operating reality, evaluation and reference checking, the analytics you will want the system to feed, and the digitalization strategy that determines whether the investment pays for itself or simply exists.
Why the cost of a wrong choice compounds
An HR platform is not a purchase, it is a marriage. The implementation cost usually exceeds the license cost. The integration work touches finance, identity and payroll. The data migration reveals every inconsistency in twenty years of records. And once employees, managers and payroll are running on it, the switching cost is high enough that most organizations live with a poor fit for a decade rather than face the alternative.
Which means the evaluation deserves considerably more rigor than it usually gets, and the requirements deserve to be written before anyone sees a demonstration, because a demonstration will otherwise write them for you.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Scope what a system will change and what it will not.
- Specify what a process needs before a vendor frames the choice.
- Select a system that fits the size and sector of the organization.
- Budget the true cost of a system beyond its license fee.
- Integrate a new module with payroll without manual rekeying.
- Audit the analytics behind every figure sent to an executive.
- Configure a learning module for staff who share one device.
- Adopt one module fully before a second is bought.
- Decommission overlapping systems and stop paying for both.

Unit 5: Building a sustainable digitalization strategy
- Sequencing digital modules by need, not by vendor release.

- Staffing the administrator who configures each module.
- A module that was switched off and what it cost to buy.
How the course is delivered
Sessions combine structured explanation with documented case material: requirement specifications, vendor evaluation scorecards, implementation post-mortems and HR dashboards that participants read, critique and rebuild in discussion. Worked examples take a real selection decision apart. Participants bring their own technology questions to the room, and time is set aside for them. The course is educational and does not certify participants, endorse any vendor, or provide legal advice on data protection. Those running a full transformation often continue with HR Metrics and Workforce Analytics.
Who should attend
- HR directors and managers responsible for selecting or replacing an HR system.
- HR operations and HRIS specialists.
- HR business partners who will have to make the system work day to day.
- Finance and IT colleagues involved in the evaluation or the funding decision.

Frequently asked questions
Will the course tell me which system to buy?
No, and it should not. EuroQuest has no vendor relationships. What the course gives you is the requirements discipline and the evaluation method, which is what actually determines whether a system fits.
Does the course include a live lab?
No. There is no live system or technical environment. Participants work from documented specifications, scorecards and worked examples discussed in the room.
We are small. Is enterprise HR technology relevant to us?
The selection discipline is, and it matters more. A small organization has less capacity to absorb a poor choice, and the course covers the lighter systems appropriate at that scale.
